Pin Downers, Week 3 - #bowling_scores

Had a good night with a 219, 220 and a 234 for a 673 series.  It was nice to come back with a good set after having to sit out last week.  In warm-ups, I noticed that the lanes were hooking more this week, so I moved my target from the 2nd arrow to the 3rd arrow, and was able to keep my ball around the pocket all 3 games.  (I kept the same line, and made moves forward and back on the approach to adjust the ball speed.)  My spare shooting was better this week also.  I was 7 out of 8 for makeable spares (missed the 10 pin once) and 2 out of 4 split conversions (picked up the 3-4-6-7-10 and the 4-10).

Pin Downers, Week 1 - #bowling_scores

Had a decent start for the season rolling a 189, 231 and a 163 for a 583 series.  1st 2 games were good for the most part, but a laps in concentration and a few bad breaks did me in the 3rd game.  Overall, my spare shooting was better, but it still needs work.  I missed 1 makeable spare in each game.  Ended up with a 194 average for the night (my book average from last year was a 186).

Wasn't sure how my ball was going to react (they just finished refinishing the lanes 2 days ago).  I ended up standing on board 35 with the 2nd arrow as my target.  For the 1st 2 games, if I kept my feet slow and hit my mark, it was in the pocket.  As the night progressed, the left lane broke down and the right lane had more carry down.  Ended up bowling different lines midway through the 2nd game.

Sweeper Tournament - #bowling_scores

Bowled a small sweeper tournament tonight at Olympic Lanes (wood) and rolled a 201, 169, 205 and 257 to make the last spot (3rd) for the roll off (+32).  I needed every bit of the 257 to make the cut.  When we started the roll off, I knew that the lanes were pretty much burnt up, but I tried to stay with the hook.  I should have just straightened the ball out and picked up all of my spares.  Ended up rolling a 157 in the roll off and came in 3rd. Hind sight is 20/20, but I will remember that for the next time, and I am happy with tonight's results.

I used my high rev release with weaker equipment.  I figured the weaker equipment would give me more forgiving when I made a mistake.  (It worked for tonight anyway.)
